OPI

OPI was founded in 1981 by George Schaeffer, who had emigrated from post-war eastern Europe to the USA in the fifties. While working in a dental supply business on the west coast, Schaeffer realised that the materials used in making dentures were better than what was currently available in the acrylic nail industry. This marked the beginning of OPI, and after their initial success supplying innovative acrylic products to nail technicians, they branched out into making coloured lacquers in 1989. We love that OPI has a dedication to the nail industry which is demonstrated by their investment in product development, the result of which is an astounding selection of colours which is constantly evolving. We also love OPI's strong philanthropic ethos, with the Schaeffer Family Foundation donating to health care and education charities all over the world.

We love the gorgeous dark plum Lincoln Park After Dark, which helped kick start the recent dark nail trend. It has won a number of awards including the Instyle Award for the best dark nail polish in 2006, 2009 and 2011 and is one of OPI's bestselling shades.
