Why we love Steam Cream
Born from an Asian-European collaborative, Steam Cream debuted in Japan in 2007 and the UK launch followed in 2008. The creative team behind the product had also worked with Lush and The Body Shop so were familiar with creating products that adhered to strict ethical and environmental principles. Within a few years, Steam Cream had won the Beauty Insider’s award for best new everyday skincare and it is now available in over 25 countries worldwide.

Why we chose Steam Cream
In the industry, Japanese skincare consumers are known to be extremely discerning, so the popularity of a product over there speaks volumes about its efficacy. In addition to offering our customers a great product, we wanted to get involved with Steam Cream as the company operates within an admirable set of ethical guidelines. The product itself is vegan with recyclable and reusable tin packaging, and Steam Cream is constantly looking for ways to reduce their energy use in manufacture, transport and sales.
Why their products work
Not many of the brands we stock here at Bath & Unwind are made up of a single product but Steam Cream is a true multi-tasking wonder that can be used on the face and body. The manufacturing process is based on an 18th century French technique and uses very hot steam to melt and fuse the ingredients together, meaning that emulsifiers (which mix ingredients) are not needed. As a result, the cream can break down more quickly and efficiently when it comes into contact with skin.

With just one formulation, the choice should be easy but we challenge you not to be torn between the fabulous limited edition tin designs. Steam Cream Original is a good choice for the guys, as the minimalist silver tin looks simple and masculine (and he wouldn’t be embarrassed if it fell out of his gym bag!). Freedom & Discipline is always a bestseller (patriotism is definitely back en vogue) or there are many other beautiful and original designs to choose from.
