This product is excellent! I have Afro-Caribbean hair, which is coarser in some places than others. When you apply the gel make sure that you apply a bead of the gel to 'WET" hair. Not damp, but dripping wet! You will need a spray bottle to spray the hair section. Hair that is just damp does not get the best effect. Also apply the gel to very small sections of the hair (1" sq), so that you can get the gel on all of the hair and for it to spread more easily. Then dry the wet hair with a toothed c
4b/c hair here. I've used it once. Although it wasn't super straight, I got it to mild waves from root to end and the best thing is that it is also a heat protector. Phyto should play up that aspect of the balm. It's much better than the other protectants I've used and it smells nice, too. You have to use it on wet (not just damp) hair.
